March 12, 2010’
I am flying over Iceland on my way to Oslo. It is the dawning of the 12th of March. Iceland is a mass of solid white…evidance of one of the snowiest years on record for the northern countries. My god, it was majestic, pure, pristine, and with jagged coastline edges that curved around the coastline that was simply met by a blue edge. The ocean that kissed the coastline. Glowing morning blue meeting the jagged edge of land. Fantastic. I thought of my friends when we flew as flight attendants how we would all like to go there to take the hot, thermal baths that Iceland is so famous for.
Now all I can think of is the failed Kraupthing Bank and the people who lived so independantly anf happy there. I longed for the hot waters and the silver blue.
As a former flight attendant, I wonder about the engines, Heathrow is closed. and the earth again is mad and angry.
Coincidentally, I drove towards Oregon’s beautiful, heavily snow covered Mt. Hood on the way to dinner;you can see it from the main road that goes into downtown Portland, a lovely introduction. Strangely, a spew of clouds came up straight from the very top of it’s cone. I thought, they are all in tandem, Mother Earth is in some strange symphony and we should all be listening. Now… Say good words for us. I just hung up my attempted call to Oslo…no one is answering……
